Clown by Quentin Blake

What better book to start than Clown. The only word in the whole book is the title, but Quentin Blake masterfully creates a moving story of loss and separation transformed into reunion and new friends, all through Clown’s inventive and determined loyalty. Juggling potatoes to charm a crying baby, moments after being hurled in through the window, that’s Clown.
Quentin Blake’s apparently artless artfulness has been honed over many years. His first drawings appeared in Punch when he was about sixteen. The art editor commented that his sketches were livelier than the finished drawings and that liberated his hand. Now well into his eighties, he has been a professional illustrator for an astonishing 70 years.
